Hotsprings Cove Trip

A few weeks ago I was able to ride along on a Hotsprings trip we did for a family staying at Aauuknuk Lodge in Ahousaht. They were worried about how crowded the springs would be, and rightly so, as most of the tour boats show up at the same time and fill the Springs with tourists for the remainder of the day.

We operate a little differently however. We aren’t afraid of waking up early, and if you want a private Hotsprings experience, that’s exactly what you have to do! Now, that’s not to say there will always be an empty spring awaiting you, but you won’t have the crowds that most people have to fight through when they experience the springs, and more often than not, you will have an empty pool awaiting you!

On this morning, our guests did have a private Hotsprings experience and were thrilled to check something off their ‘bucket list’. The waters on our way to the Springs were STUNNING. I have never seen it that calm.

I don’t have any photos from the Springs themselves, as we never want to infringe on our guests privacy, but Len and I had a great time at the Copper Moon Cafe – a unique experience you have to be sure to leave time for when you visit. The couple that run the ship/cafe were kind enough to whip us up some coffee and breakfast wraps, even though they don’t typically start selling until the hoards of tourists arrive. We can always get ahold of them on the VHF though if you are interested in sampling their goods!

I also had fun checking out the marine life on the pilings and in the water. We were fortunate to have an extremely low tide while we waited which gave us a great view!

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you are interested in booking a tour. We are more than happy to work with your needs so you too can experience this beauty!
